Let’s rewind 12 months when disaster struck the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For the first time in the superhero genre, the supposed antagonist won. As functional humans, no one could accept this as a franchise conclusion. Endgame is that medicine for redemption.
All good things must come to an end
As a true loyal Marvel fan, I attended the midnight screening of Avengers: Endgame. Therefore, there was extra pressure to stay awake and be critical by 2 am…
It wouldn’t be right to award a 22-chapter story anything less. Directors, Anthony, and Joe Russo tie up cataclysmic loose ends left by Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War.
My initial reaction towards this blockbuster was the remarkable pacing. Writers were keen to start the Endgame as transitions were at a constant pace. The minor headaches continued, throughout the maze of the complex and repetitive plot-line.
Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) still fails to warm to viewers with a limited presence. This is very unsatisfying from the promise of her solo film. But, this doesn’t subtract value from the masterpiece. Omitting a perfect nostalgic dream for all comic-book nerds.
The worldwide attachment to the characters resulted in record-breaking figures from this franchise.
Therefore calling it outstanding would be an understatement
Critics thought Avengers: Infinity War changed the game. With the exceptional dominance of Thanos, this took the MCU a step further. Since the past decade, Marvel shocks and surprises their fan-base.
Once again, the studio showed no resistance whatsoever. What’s imagined to be a dark, action-packed feature, ended up quite humorous. This was due to fewer action sequences than its predecessor.
The battle of seismic proportions arrived in the final act. Marvel’s special effects team didn’t hold back. Calling it outstanding would be an understatement. After the conflict of Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) reunite.
This is the beginning of an unforgettable fan experience. This was what we’ve been waiting for.
Marvel triumphed with Endgame
Usually, I decide a single word to summarise a film. But, Avengers: Endgame encapsulates many adjectives. Epic, riveting, emotional, warming, outstanding, professional, the list goes on.
The awe of the midnight-screening justified Marvel’s triumph. Afterward, the midnight viewers received posters. As they shuffled out of the cinema in stunned silence.
Marvel has sculptured a significant chapter in many people’s lives. Ingraining their memories with inspiration and wonder. As a result, excellent writing, directing and cinematography has captivated our generation.
To be honest, this was one of the hardest reviews to articulate. Instead, only two words can characterise this showpiece; Stan Lee.
