Arrest made after shooting in student area

A 36-year-old man from Warwick has been arrested in connection with a shotgun firing in Far Gosford Street in the early hours of this morning.

West Midlands Police have cornered off part of the street while an investigation continues. Obtained from CoventryLive, Sergeant Rory Juss from Force CID said: “Although no one was injured we simply do not tolerate guns being fired on our streets.”

Upon arrival of police, parties involved in the shooting had fled the scene.

West Midlands police said “A shotgun was discharged from a dark coloured car.”

The shooting took place outside of Sainsbury’s at 2:50am.

Another violent attack near the University campus has left students concerned for their safety.

West Midlands police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
